The US Pentagon announced that the United States will withdraw 5,000 troops from Germany, signalling a shift in military presence in Europe.

The decision came amid heightened tensions between Donald Trump and European NATO allies, against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In recent days, Trump had indicated the possibility of reducing the US military footprint in Europe, following a public disagreement with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Merz had stated that Iran was attempting to humiliate the United States during negotiations to end the war.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said the withdrawal process would be completed within the next six to twelve months.
The move marked a significant development in transatlantic relations, raising questions about future US military commitments in Europe.
