SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs (27-17, 15-5) dropped the series opener versus the Santa Clara Broncos (19-27, 7-13), 5-3.
Catcher Jacob Wrubleski had two hits, two RBIs, and a home run, leading the Gonzaga bats. Former Mt. Spokane star center fielder Andrew Rayment tallied a pair of hits and RBI for Santa Clara.
The Zags lost their first home and WCC game since the series-opener against Pepperdine on April 2. GU would go on a record 14-game win streak following that loss.
Game 2 begins back at Patterson Baseball Complex tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
