
This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest stories from across the Principality, beginning in Greece where Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the Delphi Economic Forum on April 23rd. Held at the historic site of Delphi, the international gathering brought together political, economic and intellectual leaders to discuss major global challenges.
Back in Monaco, the Sovereign Prince also took centre stage during the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, completing a ceremonial lap aboard the legendary Bugatti Type 41 Royale to mark the iconic model’s 100th anniversary.
The Historic Grand Prix also saw a dramatic moment involving former Formula One driver Jean Alesi, who escaped injury after crashing his Ferrari 312 during free practice on April 25th. Mechanics worked overnight to repair the damaged car, allowing Alesi to return to the circuit.
In the luxury sector, Monaco Legend Group reported strong results from its Exclusive Timepieces auction, generating €26.47 million in sales with an impressive 98.3 percent sell-through rate. The auction, held at the Le Méridien Beach Plaza, attracted collectors from around the world.
Meanwhile, the Principality’s cultural scene came alive with the opening of the Monaco Art Week on April 27th. Bringing together fourteen galleries and auction houses, the event showcases everything from modern design and jewellery to museum-quality artworks by internationally renowned artists.
Also on April 27th, Monaco’s Judicial Training Institute, the Institut Monégasque de Formation aux Professions Judiciaires, hosted a conference at Collège Charles III focusing on ethics in legal professions and Monaco’s international judicial responsibilities.
At Port Hercules, the historic French Navy schooner L’Étoile made a stop in Monaco as part of celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of the French Navy. Prince Albert II visited the vessel during its stay. Built in 1932, the ship continues to train young sailors through traditional seamanship.
Animal welfare also remained in focus this week as the Société Protectrice des Animaux de Monaco unveiled major upgrades to its shelter in the Alpes-Maritimes, including redesigned spaces aimed at improving comfort and reducing stress for rescued animals.
And on the sporting front, AS Monaco Basket is now on the brink of EuroLeague elimination after losing both opening playoff games against Olympiacos B.C. in Piraeus. Monaco suffered defeats of 91-70 and 94-64, with Sasha Vezenkov proving decisive for the Greek side while Mike James was ejected during Game 2.
