MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The rise of streaming services have made watching games difficult for some sports fans.
Other sports fans have to deal with blackouts, even though they live in the same state as the team.
A bill proposed by Wisconsin Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin aims to fix those frustrations.
Baldwin introduced a bill called “For the Fans Act” requiring sports leagues to offer a single free service where fans can watch all the teams from their home state.
“Rooting for your favorite team is something that unifies us in Wisconsin,” Baldwin said. “All walks of life, all political stripes get together to cheer on our teams and the other thing that’s unfortunately been unifying recently has been the cost and complexity of being able to find the game.”
Sports bars say many of the streaming services are not available for restaurants to use. If they are available, costs can add up quickly.
Some of these businesses have to choose between having the games or their bottom line.
