The surprise funding aims to accelerate deliveries of US-sourced weapons through NATO’s PURL, providing Ukraine with urgent operational support and faster capability upgrades.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Norway announced the allocation of 2.8 billion Norwegian kroner to Ukraine, which is equivalent to over 259 million euros, under NATO’s initiative to procure American weapons called the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL).
The support aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities in line with the needs recorded in the PURL and to accelerate the modernization of weapons and defense equipment.
This program is designed to provide rapid assistance in the crisis situation related to Russian aggression and to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities for the long term.
