A high-level meeting highlighted new defence technology talks and strong Portuguese backing for Ukraine’s EU aspirations. The discussion hinted at deeper military cooperation.

    The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and the Prime Minister of the Portuguese Republic Luís Montenegro discussed issues of defense cooperation and the prospects for Ukraine’s European integration.

    According to Ruslan Stefanchuk’s official Facebook page, the leaders’ meeting outcomes were made public.

    The Speaker expressed gratitude for Portugal’s unwavering support for Ukraine in political, defense, financial, and humanitarian spheres.

    He also reported on the front-line situation and noted another violation of the ceasefire regime proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

    Shared Priorities and the European Perspective

    The sides separately discussed areas of defense cooperation, notably in the field of high technologies, and the possibility of strengthening the security of both states and Europe as a whole.
