SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Tri-City Dust Devils kept the Spokane home fans quiet through the first three innings and held onto their early lead to beat the Indians 9-5 in game five of the six-game series.
Seven total runs crossed home plate for Tri-City as the Dust Devils had a 7-0 lead after the top of the 3rd inning of play was over.
Spokane would not go quietly as Roynier Hernandez singled to the left-center gap, and a fielding error would allow two Indians runs to cross home plate.
Ethan Hedges would keep the line moving for Spokane, singling on a line drive to center field as the momentum started going in the right direction for the home team.
Tri-City would kill that momentum in the fifth inning when Anthony Scull sent a solo homer to the short porch in right field to put the Dust Devils on top 8-3.
The Indians would plate two more runs, but Tri-City would get the game five win 9-5 and will look to split the six-game series with a win on Sunday.
First pitch for the series finale at 1:05 p.m. on Mother’s Day Game at Avista Stadium.
