Cheyenne, Wyo. – During the current trade mission led by Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY), the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources has signed three new agreements with partners in Taiwan, opening the door to expanded research and collaboration on energy and technology.
The memoranda of understanding were signed with National Central University, the National Atomic Research Institute, and the Industrial Technology Research Institute.
The agreements focus on practical, forward-looking work, such as carbon capture, advanced nuclear, critical minerals, and other energy technologies, while also creating new opportunities for UW students and faculty to engage internationally.
“These partnerships are about turning relationships into real opportunities,” Governor Gordon said. “Wyoming has the resources the world needs, and by working with trusted partners like Taiwan and Japan, we can expand markets, strengthen energy security, and create long-term value for our state.”
This marks the Governor’s second trade mission to the region, part of a broader effort to grow Wyoming’s economy by promoting its core industries, including natural gas, coal, and rare earth minerals, on the global stage.
Leaders from the Wyoming Energy Authority and the University of Wyoming joined the delegation, helping connect Wyoming’s academic expertise with international partners and industry leaders.
While traveling, the Governor remains in constant communication with his office and continues to execute day-to-day operations as needed.
