GREECE, N.Y. — Dozens gathered in Greece on Tuesday to show their support for police officers during a “Back the Blue” rally held in observance of National Police Week.

The rally took place on Long Pond Road near Latta Road. Supporters came together to honor law enforcement and recognize their service to the community.

“People oft times think – they cast dispersions on them. But honestly, we’re talking – officers do their jobs, they’re dedicated, they protect their communities and they engage with their communities with community activity and that’s what we really like to see,” Peter Elder, chair of the Monroe County Republican Committee, said.

According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 13 New York police officers died in the line of duty in 2023.
