Morocco has doubled its direct tomato exports to Finland during the 2025/26 season, setting a new bilateral record, according to EastFruit.

Between July 2025 and February 2026, Finland imported 2,200 tons of Moroccan tomatoes worth nearly €6 million, marking a twofold increase compared to the previous season and surpassing the combined volumes of the two preceding years. The figure is also 50% higher than the previous record set in 2022/23.

Moroccan tomato exports to Finland have grown steadily since the 2001/02 season, when shipments totaled just 37 tons. Exports first exceeded 1,000 tons in 2022/23 and crossed the 2,000-ton mark for the first time this season.

According to EastFruit, the increase reflects a broader shift in trade routes, with Moroccan exporters increasingly bypassing French distribution hubs in favor of direct shipments to Northern European markets. After expanding direct sales to Denmark and Norway last season, Morocco significantly boosted direct exports to Finland this year.
