The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina today launches www.eu4energy.ba, a new website bringing together key EU-funded energy projects into one accessible, user-friendly platform. Designed as a one-stop shop, the website offers citizens, institutions, businesses and media a clear overview of EU support to the country’s energy sector.

Energy transition is an essential element of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU accession process and will modernise the economy, strengthen competitiveness, cut pollution, bring down costs, strengthen energy security and contribute to global efforts to address climate change. At a time when energy security, affordability and sustainability are at the forefront, the platform provides a central place to explore ongoing initiatives, funding opportunities, and the broader impact of EU investments in the energy transition.

The website features a dynamic landing page with general information on EU support and direct access to three flagship ongoing projects:

    • EU4Energy (https://eu4energy.ba/projekat/en/– with a budget of €5 million, the EU4Energy project supports Bosnia and Herzegovina in developing a more transparent, competitive and sustainable energy sector. It strengthens policy and regulatory frameworks, improves energy data and planning, and supports alignment with EU energy and climate standards, contributing to more informed decision-making and long-term energy sector reforms.
    • EU4CAET (https://eu4caet.ba/) – with a budget of €3,5 million, the “EU4 Collective Action for Energy Transition” project co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ supports municipalities, the private sector and citizens in driving the energy transition at local level and improving access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through a dedicated Grant Facility, it provides financial and technical support to accelerate community-led pilot projects that demonstrate the benefits of sustainable energy investments and encourage further local action and investment.
    • EU4EnergyEfficiency (https://eu4ee.ba/) – with a budget of over €6 million, the project supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s green transition by improving energy efficiency in public buildings, strengthening institutional capacities and promoting the use of renewable energy sources. Implemented by United Nations Development Programme and the Czech Development Agency, it helps reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, while introducing innovative financing models such as ESCO and supporting sustainable investments in public infrastructure.

The EU is a key partner in the country’s green transition, with over €335 million in grants and favourable financing mobilised together with international financial institutions and EU Member States. These investments support major infrastructure and renewable energy projects, as well as large-scale energy efficiency upgrades in public buildings across the country.

Additionally, the EU’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans offers Bosnia and Herzegovina access to more than €52 million linked to reforms in renewable energy, energy efficiency, renovation of public and residential buildings, and alignment with EU climate legislation.

The new website will be regularly updated to reflect ongoing developments and provide stakeholders with timely and practical information on EU energy initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
