EU Icelandic seafood duty-free

    The Icelandic fishing fleet’s landed 123,000 tonnes of fish in April, down 12 per cent year-on-year, despite a strong rise in annual pelagic catches.

    In the 12-month period, from May 2025 to April 2026, the total catch was 1.125m tonnes, a 15% increase from the preceding 12-month period. There was a 34% increase in the pelagic catch, largely driven by capelin while the demersal catch decreased by 6% between periods. The flatfish catch decreased by 8% between periods.
