JourneyCam International, the award-winning travel documentary series created for and featuring adventurous young people, takes off again on RTÉ Player.
Irish children, equipped with their own JourneyCam, share their unique journeys as they explore their heritage and discover cultural and family connections in faraway lands.
We start with a double-bill as our vloggers head to Romania and Finland. The following week there’s a special two-parter from China! Read all about it below.
Victor (10) and Ana (7) from Galway take the JourneyCam to Oradea to visit their grandparents, exploring the colourful city before heading into the Carpathian Mountains. They venture into the mysterious Bear Cave in search of ancient Bear bones, join a lively Capra Dance parade, and help cook tasty Sarmale. In the countryside, they meet a shepherd who introduces his flock and shows them how to milk a cow.
Akseli (9) and Matilda (6) head to Lahti for a snowy JourneyCam adventure in Finland! They ski through frosty forests, skate with cousins, try ice fishing, and go behind the scenes with the Lahti Pelicans. From cosy saunas to a magical New Year tradition, it’s winter fun all the way!
Maggie (11) from Dublin heads to Beijing for a Chinese New Year adventure with her family! She explores winding hutongs, meets a glass artist and calligrapher, learns about the Year of the Horse, and dives into tea ceremonies and Tai Chi. With a dazzling visit to a Peking Opera house and a dumpling feast, Maggie is right in the heart of the New Year celebrations!
In part two, Maggie continues her adventure in Beijing, visiting a Buddhist temple, taking a rickshaw ride through the historic hutongs, learning the ancient art of kite making, and soaking up lively park culture where elders gather to play games and enjoy daily life. She also tries famous Peking duck before an unforgettable trip to the Great Wall of China.
