According to Lithuanian media, officers from the ARAS anti-terrorist operations unit of the police department determined that there were explosives at the crash site. As informed by the law enforcement agency, the decision was made to defuse them right there, as transportation would pose a threat to society.

The drone crash site has been cordoned off, and the owners of nearby homes have been asked to leave their accommodation for a while. The nearest estate is just 300m away from the drone.

On Sunday evening, May 17th, the security services reported a crashed drone near the Lithuanian village of Samane. According to media reports, it was probably of Ukrainian origin. According to the Head of the Chief Police Commissariat of the Utena District, Mindaugas Puskunigis, the UAV wreckage was found by a local resident who was mowing the grass. An investigation is underway.
