Ice hockey star Sidney Crosby recorded four assists and Canada scored five third-period goals to defeat Denmark 5-1 at the IIHF World Championship on Monday (18 May), claiming its third straight win in Group A.

The game was scoreless through two periods. Porter Martone broke it open 28 seconds into the third, and Gabriel Vilardi and Denton Mateychuk followed in quick succession to make it 3-0 by the 3:33 mark.

Nick Olesen scored for Denmark just after the 10-minute mark but Canada’s Ryan O’Reilly answered less than two minutes later. Parker Wotherspoon scored the Canucks’ fifth goal with 29 seconds remaining.

Crosby, 38, has anchored Canada’s international program for two decades. He owns two Olympic gold medals and was also part of the squad at the recent Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 that won silver.

Canada (3-0) leads Group A with nine points. Denmark (0-3) sits in last place. The Canadians return to action on Thursday against Norway.
