I think it sounds like they don’t know what the LED Backlight is and thought it was just some status LED or something.
So is it really just the LED backlight? If sth else is defective this would still be a problem for you.

Yeah I’d just ignore this and block them. However, for a next time, I’d insist on you showing its function (or absent there-of) so that they can’t claim that “they didn’t know”.
Ignore it. It’s 40€ authorities won’t even bother and you’re in the right anyway
