On 20 April 2026, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Guatemala held the first round of bilateral political consultations. The Georgian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, while the Guatemalan delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Monica Renata Bolaños Pérez.
Within the framework of the consultations, the parties discussed the principal areas of bilateral relations and future prospects. The discussions focused on the exchange of visits and meetings at various levels, as well as the advancement of cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, education, culture, and tourism.
Particular emphasis was placed on the Middle Corridor and on the role of Georgia as a regional connector and transport hub.
During the meeting, the parties noted the active cooperation and positive dynamics between Georgia and the Republic of Guatemala within multilateral formats.
The Guatemalan side reaffirmed its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
