President Donald Trump sparked worldwide chatter this week after financial disclosures showed he had invested millions in a Japan-based sushi restaurant that has five locations in Houston.
According to the financial disclosure, dated May 8, Trump invested between $1 million and $5 million in Kura Sushi USA Inc., SFGate reported. The disclosures also showed Trump invested thousands in Chipotle, Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks, Cheesecake Factory and Dave & Buster’s.
Kura Sushi USA, Inc., is a tech interactive Japanese restaurant concept established in 2008 as a subsidiary of Kura Sushi, Inc., according to its website. The restaurant uses a two-tiered conveyor belt system to deliver fresh sushi, hot soups and desserts directly the diner’s table.
Since the first restaurant opening in 1977, Kura Sushi, Inc. has grown substantially with more than 550 locations across Japan, Taiwan and the United States.
Kura Sushi has five locations in the area — two in Houston, plus locations in The Woodlands, Webster and Katy.
