The Croatian Ministry of Defence will carry out the regular annual registration of recruits into military records from 1 June to 31 December 2026 across the country.

The process is a standard activity conducted in line with the Croatian Defence Act and, from this year, will be implemented under a new procedure involving the delivery of registration questionnaires directly to the home addresses of recruits.

The obligation applies to male Croatian citizens born in 2008, as well as older age groups who have not yet been entered into military records. This includes those with permanent residence in Croatia and Croatian citizens living abroad.

Under the updated system, recruits in Croatia will receive a registration questionnaire and instructions by post in an official envelope. The completed and signed questionnaire can then be returned by post, email or delivered in person to the relevant regional defence office.

If a recruit is not present at their registered address when the questionnaire arrives, they are required to contact the competent regional defence office by telephone, either personally or through family members, to arrange how the registration process will be completed.

Men from older age groups who have not yet been registered are required to report to the regional defence office responsible for their place of residence following the general public call.

Croatian citizens residing abroad must contact a Croatian diplomatic mission or consular office in the country where they are staying.

The Ministry of Defence said additional information and guidance are available through regional defence offices throughout Croatia.
