Syrian health minister discusses cooperation with expatriate doctors in Germany

    Bonn, May 25 (SANA) Syrian Health Minister Musab al-Ali met Syrian healthcare professionals working in Germany during a visit to Bonn to discuss ways to support Syria’s healthcare sector and strengthen medical cooperation with Syrian experts abroad.

    According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the meeting was organized by the ministry’s Expatriates Affairs Department at the Syrian consulate in Bonn under the slogan “Syrian expatriates: Giving and Belonging.”

    Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Syrian medical professionals overseas and healthcare institutions in Syria, amid ongoing efforts to support the country’s health sector.
    Syria’s healthcare sector has faced significant challenges over more than a decade of war, including damage to medical infrastructure, shortages of equipment and medicines, and the migration of medical professionals abroad.

    Syrian authorities have increasingly sought to strengthen cooperation with Syrian professionals living overseas as part of broader efforts to support the recovery of key public sectors, including healthcare.

    Germany hosts one of the largest Syrian expatriate communities in Europe, including thousands of Syrian doctors, pharmacists and healthcare specialists working in German hospitals and medical institutions.

    The meeting in Bonn comes amid ongoing initiatives aimed at connecting Syrian expertise abroad with institutions inside Syria through training programs, medical exchanges and technical support initiatives.
