A project I am currently working on as part of media research at the University of British Columbia. This media project is an art-constellation that aims to analyze how online media, specifically hateful, ignorant and troll comments, affect perceptions and perspectives on one’s own as well as other identities.

For this purpose, I put together several large-scale panels with a variety of different comments from different platforms. This can be found above all as a reaction to the media about Luxembourgish history, identity and language. Looking at these comments individually, it’s easy to dismiss them as simply ignorant, hateful or troll comments: simple "rage bait"which did not deserve a reaction.

However, my project aims to explore what happens if we do not simply classify these comments into the category of "Incel"-Stick outsiders, but consider and reflect them as a collective: not as individual troll messages, but as a whole "Well" of hatred, ignorance and "Uneducated being". From statements referring to Luxembourgish as a dialect, to the claim that the country was completely francophone, to the denial of the Luxembourger’s right to his nationality, the collection of comments should emphasize how the media reflects the understanding or non-understanding of identity on a large scale, even if it seems irrelevant when considering individual comments.
