Royal Enfield Bullet 650 actionThe Bullet is an iconic motorcycle which now gets the popular 650 twin powerplant.

Royal Enfield has officially unveiled the new Bullet 650, bringing one of motorcycling’s most recognisable names into the brand’s hugely successful twin-cylinder platform for the first time.

For many riders, the Bullet isn’t just another motorcycle model. First introduced in 1932, it’s one of the longest-running motorcycle nameplates in production history and has built a reputation around simplicity, durability and unmistakable old-school character. Now, for 2026, Royal Enfield is giving the Bullet its most significant update yet.

At the heart of the new machine sits the company’s familiar 648cc parallel twin engine — the same platform already proven in models like the Interceptor 650, Continental GT, Super Meteor and Shotgun. That means the new Bullet 650 should deliver the same relaxed torque-rich performance and approachable nature that has made Royal Enfield’s 650 range such a global success.

While the mechanical package is modern, Royal Enfield has clearly worked hard to retain the traditional Bullet identity. The new model keeps classic styling cues including hand-painted pinstripes, the traditional tiger lamps, vintage-style badging and the signature upright riding position that has defined the Bullet for generations.

The company says the new bike has been designed to preserve the “soul of the original” while adding the extra performance and refinement offered by the twin-cylinder platform.

More Than 90 Years Of Bullet History

Few motorcycles can claim a history quite like the Royal Enfield Bullet. Originally launched in 1932, the Bullet quickly became known for its rugged construction and simple, dependable engineering at a time when motorcycles were still evolving rapidly.

The name really cemented itself in motorcycling folklore after World War II when the Bullet’s reputation for toughness saw it adopted by military and police forces in several countries. But it was India where the Bullet truly became a legend.

In 1955, Royal Enfield began manufacturing the Bullet in India through a partnership with Madras Motors, initially supplying motorcycles for the Indian Army. Over time, the Bullet became deeply woven into Indian motorcycling culture, earning a loyal following thanks to its unmistakable styling, distinctive exhaust note and reputation for being able to handle rough roads and huge distances.

Even as motorcycles around it became more modern and complex, the Bullet remained remarkably unchanged for decades. That commitment to preserving its character is a huge part of why the model has become one of the most recognisable and longest-running motorcycle nameplates in continuous production.

The new Bullet 650 represents the latest evolution of that legacy — combining the timeless silhouette and spirit of the original with Royal Enfield’s modern twin-cylinder platform.

Classic Styling Meets Modern Twin-Cylinder Performance

The Bullet 650 continues to use Royal Enfield’s steel tubular spine frame and combines it with a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch designed to make riding easier in both urban and open-road conditions.

Visually, it leans heavily into nostalgia, with the large bench seat, traditional nacelle and long, flowing lines all clearly inspired by earlier Bullet models. However, underneath the retro styling sits a much more modern riding experience than earlier generations ever offered.

Royal Enfield describes the new model as “timeless, steadfast and impossible to imitate,” positioning it as a motorcycle designed as much around feel and character as outright performance figures.

That approach has worked extremely well for the company globally in recent years, with Royal Enfield becoming one of the fastest-growing brands in the mid-capacity segment by focusing on accessible, character-driven motorcycles rather than chasing outright horsepower wars.
