Algeria and Belarus are committed to boosting their mutual trade turnover — as noted by Ibrahim Boughali, the Chairman of the National People’s Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, following his meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on May 26th, sb.by reports
Mr. Boughali noted that the meeting with Aleksandr Lukashenko was very warm, emphasising that the parties had a substantive discussion on bilateral economic co-operation, “We already have strong and excellent relations, which were given momentum during the official visit of the President of Belarus to Algeria in December 2025. In the near future, we plan to hold a session of the joint intergovernmental commission in Minsk, where we will discuss specific areas of co-operation in the economy, industry, agriculture, science, culture, and other promising fields.”
The distinguished guest added that today Algeria is focused on diversifying its economy, reducing dependence on hydrocarbons, and actively developing industry, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals, “We need Belarusian expertise in these areas, which is why we are interested in implementing joint projects for the production of tractors, bus equipment, and fertilisers that are essential for Algeria’s economy and agriculture. I am confident that carrying out these projects will benefit the peoples of both countries.”
“I am sure there are promising opportunities for co-operation here,” Mr. Boughali emphasised.
