The U.S. and Austria have played on 15 previous occasions in the men’s world championship with Team USA owning a 12-1-0-2-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) advantage. The last meeting between the squads came in the 2023 tournament with the U.S. claiming a 4-1 victory behind a goal and an assist from both Lane Hutson and Nick Perbix.

    The U.S. is coming off a 7-3 win yesterday against Hungary. Tommy Novak had five assists to lead the way, while Matthew Tkachuk had two goals and two assists. In addition, Justin Faulk and Ryan Leonard each had two goals and an assist.

    Austria, which has three wins and three losses through its first six games, had yesterday off after a 5-2 loss on May 24 in its most recent outing. The Austrians opened the tournament with three straight victories, including a 5-2 triumph over Great Britain; a 4-2 win over Austria and a 3-1 victory over Latvia, before dropping a 9-0 decision to Switzerland and a 6-2 contest against Germany.

    Entering play today, Tommy Novak leads the U.S. with seven points, including a goal and six assists. Matthew Tkachuk is next with six points (three goals, three assists), while Justin Faulk has five points (two goals, three assists).
