Support scheme for countries with lagging R&I performance should reflect their individual progress, expert recommends
The EU’s next research and innovation programme should take a more nuanced approach to providing extra support for countries with lagging performance—potentially including tailoring specific funding schemes to individual countries, according to a new study.
Written for the European Parliament’s science advice unit by R&I policy expert Reinhilde Veugelers, a professor at KU Leuven university in Belgium, the study report published on 22 May says there is evidence that the “Widening participation and spreading excellence” funding has helped lagging countries.
