Speedway GP star Dominik Kubera and Artem Laguta both suffered injuries in Sweden’s Bauhaus Elitserien on Tuesday.
According to his PGE Ekstraliga club Zielona Gora, Kubera will sit out their meeting at home to Leszno on Sunday after he crashed on the opening turn of heat four of Swedish side Lejonen’s trip to Piraterna, withdrawing from the meeting.
Meanwhile, 2021 Speedway GP world champion Laguta has confirmed he suffered a broken hand. The injury occurred in heat 13 of Dackarna’s home match with Smederna in Malilla.
Laguta posted: “Yesterday on the track in Malilla, I broke my hand. At the moment I don’t know how long I’ll be away from the track. But I know myself, I’ll be back soon.”
The Malilla meeting saw Latvian racer Andzejs Lebedevs race to 14 points for Smederna at his old club as the Eskilstuna outfit won 53-37. Lebedevs was backed up by Swedish star Kim Nilsson, who racked up 12 paid 13, while Gleb Chugunov notched nine paid 10.
Swedish international Timo Lahti was Dackarna’s top scorer on 11 paid 12, with Tomas H Jonasson adding eight paid nine.
Six-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik bagged 14 paid 15 points for Lejonen as they defied the early loss of Kubera to win 49-41 away to Piraterna.
Zmarzlik went unbeaten while fellow countryman Pawel Przedpelski also impressed on 16, with double SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak scoring 12.
Czech racer Vaclav Milik and Polish rider Oskar Fajfer both collected eight for the Pirates, with Aussie star Ben Cook scoring seven paid eight.
Great Britain racer Robert Lambert scored 13 paid 14 points for Vastervik as they powered to a 60-30 win away to Rospiggarna. He was well supported by Jacob Thorssell, who scored 10 paid 12, while Victor Palovaara tallied a straight 10, Speedway GP star Jason Doyle notched nine paid 11 and GB star Tom Brennan added eight paid nine. British racer Adam Ellis and French rider David Bellego led the Rospiggarna scoring on eight points apiece.
In the day’s other meeting, Swedish star Oliver Berntzon picked up 12 paid 13 for Indianerna as they won 49-41 at home to Vargarna. German star Kai Huckenbeck tallied 10 paid 11, with Przemyslaw Pawlicki registering a straight 10 points.
Polish sensation Maksymilian Pawelczak scored 15 points for Vargarna, with Slovak star Martin Vaculik and 2024 SGP2 champion Wiktor Przyjemski both notching nine paid 10.
