A yellow weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for 11 regions across Bulgaria on Thursday as cooler air moves into the country. Thunderstorms and short but intense downpours are expected in many areas, with the heaviest rainfall forecast for the central and eastern Balkan mountain foothills. Hailstorms are also possible. Winds will shift from the northwest and strengthen to moderate or strong levels, while in eastern Bulgaria they will come from the north-northeast. Temperatures will range from 22–23°C in the northeast to 32–33°C in the far southwest. Sofia is expected to reach a maximum temperature of around 25°C after an early morning low of 13°C.

    Along the Black Sea coast, cloudy conditions and scattered thunderstorms are forecast, accompanied by moderate northeasterly winds. Air temperatures will reach 22–25°C, while sea temperatures will remain between 17°C and 20°C.

    Mountain areas are expected to see widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with strong northwesterly winds. The temperature will be around 18°C at an altitude of 1,200 metres and around 11°C at an altitude of 2,000 metres.

    Weather conditions are expected to improve on Friday, with mostly sunny skies and only isolated showers in eastern Bulgaria and mountain regions.Temperatures will range from 22°C to 27°C. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with temperatures starting to rise again.
