Deputies Chamber: Bust of the first president of Greater Romania’s Parliament to be unveiled on June 8

A bust of Vasile Stroescu, the first president of the Parliament of Greater Romania, will be unveiled on June 8, following a decision by the Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday.
The unveiling ceremony will take place in the area near the Museum of the Chamber of Deputies, described in the request as ‘a location offering the visibility and dignity required to honour the first senior president of the Parliament of Greater Romania’.
A themed symposium will follow under the auspices of the Joint Permanent Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate for Relations with UNESCO.
Around 50 guests are expected to attend, including prominent figures from Romania’s and the Republic of Moldova’s cultural, academic and spiritual communities, as well as award-winning pupils from Bucharest, with the aim of involving younger generations in learning about national history.
According to the approved document, the event seeks to commemorate the political legacy and philanthropic work of the distinguished Bessarabian Romanian, regarded as a symbol of national unity.
The document also notes that April 13, 2026 marked 100 years since Stroescu’s death, making the event ‘an eloquent and necessary way of honouring his memory and merits through a gesture of public and institutional recognition’.
