Lithuania has called for the immediate opening of all six negotiation clusters for Ukraine in June as part of the country’s European Union accession process.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys made the remarks ahead of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Limassol, European Pravda reports.
He said any further delays in launching the negotiation clusters would be unacceptable.
“We must open all six clusters in June. We do not have the right to wait any longer,” Budrys said.
He also stressed that the European Union must define the next steps for long-term financial support for Ukraine and expand its role in strengthening resilience on the EU’s eastern flank.
The Lithuanian foreign minister added that threats facing the eastern flank are existential in nature and require more active and coordinated action from the European Union.
