HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Free family-friendly movies are returning to Waikiki’s Queen Beach this summer.
“Sunset on the Beach” features live entertainment, games, prizes, and a movie under the stars hosted by Southwest Airlines in partnership with the City and County of Honolulu and the Waikiki Improvement Association.
Festivities start in the evening on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki.
Seating is first-come, first served, and attendees are asked to bring their own beach chairs and mats.
Food and drinks are available for purchase at the venue.
Saturday’s showing is “Zootopia 2.”

Sept. 26

- Featured Film: “The Bad Guys 2″
- Festivities begin at 4 p.m. | Movie starts at 6:40 p.m.
“There’s no better way to celebrate summer in Hawaii, and we encourage everyone to come down and enjoy,” said Kelly Knox, senior corporate responsibility advisor for the Hawaii region for Southwest Airlines.
Southwest will also donate and recognize a local nonprofit organization at each screening. This year’s recipients include: March of Dimes Hawaii, Make-A-Wish Hawaii, Chaminade University Athletics, Hawaii Foodbank and the Hawaii High School Athletics Association.
