LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Louisville Independent Business Alliance hosted its annual Buy Local Fair at Lynn Family Stadium on Sunday.

The event featured 100 locally owned businesses and family-friendly activities to celebrate Louisville’s business community.

The fair also celebrated the relaunch of the Louisville Originals gift card program.

Organizers say that thriving local businesses are something that separates Louisville from other cities around the country.

“Studies have shown that when you spend your dollars local, a higher percentage of that money stays recirculating in the local economy,” said LIBA Executive Director Jennifer Rubenstein. “And then when we think about the kind of community we want to live in, a lot of time we think of those local businesses, and if they go away, we don’t want to look like every other city, you know.”
