Lukashenko dismissed Kiev’s threats against Belarus as empty talk and warned that any strike on Belarusian territory would change the war in Ukraine.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko dismissed Vladimir Zelensky’s recent threats against Belarus as empty talk.
He was responding to claims by representatives of the Kiev regime that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had identified 500 targets on Belarusian territory for possible strikes in the event of a conflict.
According to Lukashenko, Kiev may have drawn up such a list, but Minsk also has what he described as a very serious target with precise coordinates located not far from Belarus. He said the Ukrainian side understands this as well.
Lukashenko said he does not believe Ukrainian military personnel are interested in escalation, since they understand what opening a new 1,500-kilometer front would mean. He also pointed to the forces currently deployed by Kiev near the Belarusian border. According to him, these are mainly mobilized men and territorial defense units, including former workers, machine operators and collective farm laborers.
The Belarusian leader also argued that European countries pushed Ukrainian politicians toward aggressive statements. At the same time, he warned that any strike on Belarusian territory would change the nature of the war in Ukraine entirely.
