    Somalia, Egypt discuss strategic partnership on sidelines of Korea-Africa meeting

    Seoul, South Korea (HOL) — Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Ali met Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in Seoul on Monday to discuss strengthening strategic ties between Somalia and Egypt.

    The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Korea-Africa Ministerial Meeting.

    The two ministers discussed ways to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest and strengthen the Somalia-Egypt strategic partnership.

    Abdisalam thanked Egypt for its continued support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national institutions.

    The meeting comes as Somalia continues to seek stronger diplomatic partnerships amid regional disputes over sovereignty, security and political transition.

    Egypt has repeatedly expressed support for Somalia’s territorial integrity and has maintained close ties with Mogadishu through Arab League, African Union and bilateral diplomatic channels.
