Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has called the city the last stronghold for the main opposition People Power Party and urged voters to keep it that way by reelecting him.
Oh made the appeal on Tuesday, the last day of campaigning, at a news conference in Yongsan, where he said that even if the conservative party has made mistakes, voters cannot abandon checks and balances.
He said the main opposition party has fallen short, adding that as someone who has long remained loyal to the conservative party, he feels a great sense of responsibility over its shortcomings.
Commenting on his opponent, Chong Won-o of the ruling Democratic Party, Oh called him an unprepared novice driver.
Oh urged voters to cast ballots on Wednesday to stop the nation from leaning completely to one side.
