The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) surged to another record high on Tuesday, closing above the eight-thousand-800 mark for the first time.
The KOSPI rose 13-point-11 points, or zero-point-15 percent, on Tuesday to close at a record high of eight-thousand-801-point-49.
While foreign investors engaged in heavy selling for the 18th trading session, strong net purchases by individual investors supported the index.
Foreign investors net sold shares worth nearly six-point-seven trillion won, more than four-point-four billion U.S. dollars, the third-largest net selling volume on record.
Individual investors, meanwhile, net purchased some six-point-three trillion won, the largest figure posted since May 15, when the KOSPI topped eight-thousand for the first time.
News that Samsung Electronics outperformed Meta to enter the top ten in the global market capitalization rankings for publicly traded companies during intraday trading also led to the gains in the KOSPI.
