The ruling Democratic Party’s candidate for Seoul mayor, Chong Won-o, has appealed for voter support with just a day left until the local elections, stressing that only votes can bring change to the capital city.
Chong made the call Tuesday at a news conference held at the National Assembly jointly with the party’s candidates to lead Seoul’s 25 districts, stressing that his election and theirs would enable the Lee Jae Myung government and the city of Seoul to act as “one team.”
Chong said voting for him in Wednesday’s race would not simply be selecting a new mayor of Seoul but would also provide support for the Lee government.
Regarding allegations surrounding Chong’s tenure as chief of Seoul’s Seongdong District, which incumbent Mayor Oh Se-hoon of the main opposition People Power Party raised during the campaign, Chong said Oh’s campaign has remained consistently negative and will invite judgment from the public.
