The opposition, including the Greens and the far-right Alternative for Germany, argued that the government’s diplomatic stance has led to Germany’s international isolation. Wadephul emphasized Germany’s responsibility towards Israel, which he believes also impacted the vote, amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
