QUEENS, N.Y. – A quartet of St. John’s baseball student-athletes were named the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Adam Agresti, Jayder Raifstanger, Liam O’Leary and Evan Chaffee were recognized for their excellence on the diamond and in the classroom.

    The four selections are the most in program history, surpassing the previous best of three nods in 2008 and 2016. Agresti, Raifstanger and O’Leary will advance to the national ballot as finalists for Academic All-America consideration.

    Agresti continues to add to his historic season, collecting his first CSC All-District recognition. The junior catcher boasts a 3.80 GPA and was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team last season. The Yorktown, N.Y., native is one of three players to start every contest for the Red Storm this season. He is batting to the tune of a .290 average, while mashing 19 homers. Agresti’s home run total is the second most in a single-season in program history, trailing Jermey Baltz’s record of 24.

    Raifstanger carries a 3.61 GPA while majoring in business. An All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, Raifstanger has been a centerpiece for the squad. The Great Barrington, Mass., product leads the Red Storm with a .336 batting average and 82 hits. Since the start of postseason play, Raifstanger has collected at least one hit in 50 of the 60 games so far this season. As the primary third baseman, he boasts a .968 fielding percentage.

    O’Leary has been the ace of the Johnnies pitching staff, boasting a 3.58 GPA in his first season as a Johnnie. A unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team Selection, the junior has toss three complete games and one shutout, all while holding a 3.25 ERA. The right hander has toss 105.1 innings and has struck out 74 batters. The Souderton, Pa., native, has guided the Red Storm to wins in 11 of his last 13 contests on the mound, including a 7-1 mark against BIG EAST foes.

    Chaffee leads the group with a 3.81 GPA majoring in finance. This is his first CSC award, as the southpaw was named the BIG EAST All-Academic Team last year. On the mound, the Hamburg, N.Y., native, owns a 7-4 record while tossing over 80.0 innings as the Saturday starter for the Red Storm. Owning a 4.85 ERA, Chaffee has secured a win in each of his last four outings, including against Northern Illinois during the Tallahassee Regional.

    The Red Storm is set to face No. 7 national seed Alabama in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional this weekend. The winner of the best of three series will punch their ticket to the College World Series in  Omaha, Neb. First pitch on Friday is slated for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
