The party, launching in the elections for the new Saeima, has published a program that it promises to implement if its members are elected to parliament. So, what does the “Rising Sun” intend to do?
“We will set a deadline for the cessation of the non-citizen status, facilitating the repatriation of disloyal immigrants of Soviet origin,” the politicians promise.
Among other ideas: we will protect Latvian language speakers, dismantle monuments, and rename streets that glorify Russian imperialism and communism. It is also planned to remove the graves of the soldiers of the occupying forces.
Next, we will close the eastern border, allowing only exit from the country in that direction. We will not allow the spread of Islamism. We will eliminate the Society Integration Fund. We will dismantle the railway tracks at the eastern border.
By the way, the party promises to double the economy of Latvia in 8 years. But it does not specify in the program how it will achieve this.
## Demography
“Rising Sun” promises to promote the growth of the Latvian people to achieve a total fertility rate of at least 2.1. How?
There are ideas: increase the childbirth allowance for Latvian citizens to the amount of three average salaries (currently about 5,500 euros). And that’s not all – they want to pay a monthly childcare allowance equal to the minimum wage. However, only for the first one and a half years. Nevertheless, it adds up to a significant amount – at the current minimum wage, this is 14,040 euros.
Additionally, for each child born, each citizen of Latvia will receive a first-level pension capital of 20,000 euros.
## Public Administration and Security
– We will introduce direct state administration in municipalities where pro-Kremlin politicians have come to power.
– We will increase the average salary of police officers by 30–50% over five years, paying special attention to officials of lower ranks.
– We will completely cease cooperation and trade with Russia, Belarus, and other states that support terrorism.
## Healthcare and Infrastructure
– We will reduce waiting times for outpatient medical services to 30 days. State-funded medical services will be provided only to citizens of Latvia.
– We will complete the construction of the main highway of the “Rail Baltica” project, reducing costs. We will hold politicians, developers, and appraisers of the project accountable.
– We will stop issuing new state loans to the airline “airBaltic” and set a deadline by which the company must become profitable. If the enterprise continues to operate at a loss, the state will cease its participation in it.
