About lyricists, physicists, doctors and the reality of life | Pending elections

Was here recently publication about the fact that in the pre-election campaign Shlesser pulled out old slogans that he used 20 years ago. This post prompted me to find my publications of the time, wanted for politics. Maybe they will help you understand how to get rid of him, just like you managed to do it 15 years ago.

I did not plan to publish this text because I considered it outdated. The issue discussed here is no longer relevant. But then I realized that it is not relevant precisely because of this text. I wrote under the previous publication in the commentthat Latvians do not understand what I write in Latvian. This text is proof that I was wrong. Today, politicians can no longer feed Latvian citizens "the reality of life". It should be noted that "objective reality" was always the riding horse of Orkostan propaganda. The most vivid example of this propaganda is “Kyiv in 3 days”.

Two events last week were closely related: the picket on Thursday and Mr. Godman’s appearance on the show "What is happening in Latvia?". The first turned upside down the preconception of the reality of Latvian life, the second left the impression that a wise man Godmanis, speaking wise words, cannot understand what is really happening in Latvia. The feeling is very similar to the one in August 1991. The putschists, who for a long time were the determinants of the reality of life, suddenly fell out of it, or the reality of life went somewhere else from them.

How could this happen? Have Mr. Godmanis and the others been fools until now (if you can be a fool for a while)?

The cause of this contradiction actually lies deeper than a lack of mental power. Let’s put it this way – can we consider all people as fools who lived in an era when there was an opinion that the Earth is flat? Those who burned Giordano Bruno were the most educated representatives of their time. Today’s "flatness" manifests itself in the myth of the reality of life, which is actually the younger brother of dialectical materialism. The basis of this idea is the belief that there is some objective reality that must be understood and then acted upon. It is these efforts that we observe in the performance of Mr. Godmanis last Wednesday.

Natural sciences are based on this practice, which has achieved enormous success in recent centuries. And it is this success in the natural sciences that encourages people to transfer this idea to societies in the sciences. But in this field, the object and subject of research are one and the same. As soon as the subject discovered something new in the object, it immediately changes due to new knowledge. Attempts to extend the power of the natural sciences to the social sciences have often failed, leading to disdain among physicists for the social sciences as bogus. That’s why physicists don’t consider it a big problem to immediately tackle the issues of society, because they consider people who deal with it to be fools, because they don’t know how to differentiate.

In this field, only doctors are worse than physicists, because they still have a peculiar cynicism associated with their specialty. And it is precisely representatives of these professions who are most often involved in Latvian politics.
