On June 7, 2026, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade, delivering a message centered on faith, prayer, and trust in God amid life’s challenges.

Reflecting on recent days, the Patriarch said that the faithful had experienced a profound spiritual reality through God’s grace and the intercessions of the Theotokos.

“We must live by faith, breathe by it, and be filled with prayer,” he said. “We have been lifted beyond time and space, as though nineteen days had passed in a single moment, through the love and grace of God and the protection of the Most Holy Theotokos.”

Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the importance of unceasing prayer, encouraging the faithful to continually invoke the name of Christ through the Jesus Prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

He also spoke of the comfort and support offered by the Mother of God, urging believers to turn to her in heartfelt prayer.

“In these days, we have learned that there is Someone in heaven who hears us and comes to our aid,” he said. “We have learned that the Most Holy Theotokos understands us better than anyone. Let us constantly pray: ‘Most Holy Theotokos, save me’ or ‘Most Holy Theotokos, save us.’ You will see how everything in life begins to change.”

Concelebrating with the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church were Bishops Alexei of Hvostan and Dositej of Lipljan, together with clergy of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci.
