A Seoul court has ordered the preservation of four pieces of evidence related to the ballot shortages that occurred during last Wednesday’s local elections.

On Tuesday the Seoul Eastern District Court accepted some of the requests submitted by the Reform Party’s Supreme Council member Kim Jeong-cheol, who ran for mayor of Seoul last week and wanted certain evidence to be preserved.

Per the court decision, a ballot box stored at a voting center in Jamsil, Songpa District, will be preserved as evidence along with CCTV footage showing ballot boxes being stored at the center from 8 a.m. last Wednesday until 9 p.m. Friday.

The court rejected requests for the actual ballots used at the Jamsil center to be stored as evidence.

On Wednesday, the judge who issued the latest order will visit the voting center in Jamsil to seal the evidence and store it in a separate location.
