A giant engine powered entirely by pure hydrogen has successfully generated electricity for Spain’s national grid in what its manufacturer describes as a world first for large scale power generation. The technology is intended to show how hydrogen could one day be used in power plants supplying hundreds of megawatts of electricity to national grids without carbon emissions.
