    Bars, restaurants looking forward to bump in business from World Cup

    The United States’ World Cup matchup with Paraguay on Friday night is stoking a lot of excitement and a lot of commerce for businesses in the Susquehanna Valley.Mr. G’s Sports Bar in Susquehanna Township is hosting a watch party for the game while also raising funds for Susquehanna Township EMS, which has members on hand to do community outreach at the event.”We’re here for the community to meet us, do blood pressure checks if they want, with the game going on maybe that’s a good thing,” said Don Kunst, executive director and chief of Susquehanna Township EMS.Restaurant Row on Second Street in Downtown Harrisburg is also expecting big crowds for World Cup soccer during the tournament.Adam Sturges, owner of McGrath’s Pub, said the timing couldn’t be better to coincide with a major expansion into the former Arooga’s Sports Bar at the corner of North 2nd and Locust streets.”We’re definitely looking forward to it, and it was a goal of mine to have it open and have some nice big TVs in there before World Cup started,” he said.Ryan Unger, president and CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and Capital Region Economic Development Corporation, said Harrisburg itself may not be a host city for the tournament but will likely get a chance to shine as people visiting the Keystone State explore outside Philadelphia.“We’ve got a great team led by our favorite son of Dauphin County and the Capital Region, Christian Pulisic, so I know we’re pumped. And you certainly think it’s going to be a great impact here in the Harrisburg region,” Unger said.
