The Islamic Development Bank Group has officially commenced on Tuesday (16 June) its 2026 Annual Meetings in Baku. The flagship gathering of the AAA-rated multilateral development institution of the Global South brings together policymakers, development practitioners and financial leaders from across its 57 member countries and beyond.
The theme reflects the growing importance of regional integration as a driver of sustainable development and shared prosperity. It is closely aligned with the IsDB Group’s Ten-Year Strategic Framework (2026–2035), which identifies regional integration as a key pillar for promoting inclusive, resilient and sustainable development across member states.
The 2026 Annual Meetings mark the second time in the past 15 years that Azerbaijan has hosted the Group’s premier international event, following its previous hosting in 2010.
The meetings bring together ministers responsible for finance, economy, planning and international development, as well as senior representatives of international financial institutions, development organisations and strategic partners. The event provides a high-level platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange on shared development priorities and sustainable socio-economic progress.
Throughout the week, participants will engage in discussions on emerging development challenges and opportunities, focusing on innovative solutions to support long-term global growth and resilience.
The programme includes statutory meetings of the Boards of Governors, a fireside chat with the IsDB Group Chairman, the Governors’ Dialogue, the Private Sector Forum, the MDB Business Opportunities Forum, and the Arab Coordination Group Private Sector Session, alongside high-level roundtables, networking events and exhibitions.
Key themes include Islamic finance, youth employability, climate resilience, halal ecosystem development, regional energy interconnections, trade and connectivity, artificial intelligence and digital economies, innovation and startups, labelled sukuk, regional health security and social protection systems.
