WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Officials cut the ribbon on a new medical helicopter at the Huntington Tri-State Airport on Tuesday morning.
When a medical emergency happens, time can make all the difference.
That’s why leaders with Marshall Health Network and HealthNet Aeromedical Services said this aircraft is an important investment in patient care across the region.
Scott Raynes, president and CEO of Marshall Health Network, said in the last year, the decision was made to trade-up and invest in the dual-engine helicopter.
He said he’s confident the helicopter will save lives.
“The region that we serve needs this helicopter and others like it,” Raynes said. “So, the community and the region just got healthier and safer and better as a result of today.”
Clinton Burley, president and CEO of HealthNet Aeromedical Services, said first responders in the region face challenges when it comes to the terrain and the time it takes to get a patient the care they need.
“Unfortunately, when minutes matter, that terrain is difficult for us,” Burley said. “Having medical helicopters across this region– on a not-for-profit model that’s focused on safety and exceptional patient care — it makes a life-saving difference.”
Officials said they are grateful for all the support from community leaders and members.
Along with the ribbon-cutting, HealthNet Aeromedical Services also celebrated its 40-year anniversary.
