Maine’s Total Coverage and Maine’s Total Weather are tracking reports of downed trees after severe thunderstorms moved through western and southern Maine.Shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, the Limington Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department reported that a tree was down on power lines along Douglas Road. The department shared a photo showing a crew was at the scene to assess the situation.Maine’s Total Weather has also seen reports of downed trees in the towns of Acton, Denmark and Oxford.Reports indicated that multiple downed trees and power lines were blocking East Main Street in Denmark; multiple downed trees were blocking Youngs Ridge Road in Acton; and a downed tree was blocking Gore Road in Oxford.Related video above: Torrential rainfall in ActonMaine’s Total Coverage has since learned from the Acton Fire-Rescue Department that Youngs Ridge Road has been cleared and reopened to traffic.All of these communities were under a severe thunderstorm warning at the time these reports were made.These areas were also under a tornado watch, which expired about an hour ahead of schedule shortly before 6 p.m.At 5:56 p.m., Central Maine Power reported that more than 8,800 customers were without power. About 40 minutes later, the number of power outages had dropped to more than 6,200.Versant Power, meanwhile, reported at 6:35 p.m. that more than 2,000 customers were without power.Click the following links to track outages among CMP customers and Versant Power customers.With the storm threat now over, the weather pattern remains unsettled through the weekend with breezy conditions and daily chances for showers and a few thunderstorms, especially across northern Maine.
