KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Nine days ago, World Cup fans painted Kansas City light blue and white nine days ago for Argentina, and green for Algeria ahead of their match at Kansas City Stadium.
On Thursday, there will likely be one dominant color: orange.
Netherlands, ranked No. 7 in the world, squares off against Tunisia in its final game of Group Stage play at 6 p.m., hoping to win Group F of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Based in Kansas City for the duration of its World Cup stay, Netherlands soccer is commonly referred to as Oranje. And its passionate fanbase? The Orange Legion. And they figure to be in full force.
If the turnout is similar to Netherlands’ previous two games in Dallas and Houston, Kansas City can expect thousands of orange-clad Netherlands supporters parading through downtown Kansas City and the Crossroads before ending at FIFA Fan Festival.
Street closures are expected in the area.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
KC2026 officials said they were working with safety officials and vendors at FIFA Fan Festival to open “as early as possible,” but could not guarantee it, as the parade is set to start ahead of schedule.
STADIUM SHUTTLES
In anticipation of another capacity crowd for Thursday’s World Cup match between Netherlands and Tunisia, Kansas City FIFA officials are planning ahead to help with traffic flow to the stadium.
KC2026 announced Thursday afternoon that shuttles that run regionally from Fan Festival to locations across the metro will be temporarily suspended on Thursday. The affected routes are:
- Independence Square
- KC Zoo/Starlight Theatre
- Worlds of Fun
- 3 Trails Transit Center
The ConnectKC26 shuttles will be converted to Stadium Direct service in an effort to get all fans to Kansas City Stadium in time for kickoff.

- Morning and Ornaje Fanwalk: This is the beginning of the rain window, which means rain is possible but not quite likely year. Chances are 40%, so we may get this in without too much trouble.
- Mid Afternoon & Fan Fest: Rain becomes more likely with chances up to 70%. Rounds of brief downpours are possible. We likely catch dry lulls between rain, but wet weather is likely during this time of the day.
- Late Afternoon & Evening (Match Time): Rain still likely, so plan on bringing a poncho to the match. The lightning chance (which is what would cause delays) is low, but not zero. Odds are currently 30% during the match.
STADIUM BAG POLICY?
All FIFA stadiums will follow a clear bag policy. Only certain types of bags are allowed inside the stadium.
Ticket Holders are only permitted to bring certain types of bags into Stadiums. The approved bags must be clear and made of plastic, vinyl, or PVC material. Those bags must not exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches (30 cm x 30 cm x 15 cm).
Small clutch purses or wallets approximately the size of a hand are allowed, even if not clear and no larger than 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches (or 11 cm x 16.5 cm).
All bags must be inspected at the stadium entrance.

Small flags, banners and posters made of a fire-resistant material (maximum size: 2m x 1.5m / 78in x 60in) are allowed in the stadium. Larger flags, banners, posters or instruments must be approved in advance.

STADIUM REENTRY POLICY
Leaving and then reentering the stadium is not allowed, and smoking and vaping is strictly prohibited.
WATER BOTTLE POLICY
FIFA announced that fans will be allowed to bring one soft, plastic, factory-sealed 20-ounce water bottle into any FIFA match in the U.S. and Canada.
Fans will not be allowed to bring in hard-sided, reusable water bottles due to safety and security reasons.
