LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The United States men’s national team fell 3-2 to Türkiye, closing Group D play with six points.

The match didn’t affect either team’s standing, as Türkiye still finished fourth and was eliminated, while the USA advanced to the Round of 32 as top finishers in the group.

Auston Trusty opened the scoring for the US in the third minute, but Arda Güler replied for the Turks in the 10th minute.

Baris Alper Yilmaz put the Crescent-Stars ahead at halftime, and a Sebastian Berhalter screamer tied the match again at the 49th minute.

A Kaan Ayhan game-winner happened on the final kick of the match in the 90’+8′, securing three points for Türkiye.

The USMNT next faces Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32 next Wednesday, July 1, at 5:00 p.m. at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
