Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico stated that he opposes further military and financial support for Ukraine and wants the Slovak delegation to go to the NATO summit without a mandate to approve new contributions. This is reported by UNN with reference to Aktuality.

According to Fico, next week he plans to hold a meeting at the highest constitutional level with the participation of Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák to coordinate Bratislava’s position ahead of the Alliance summit.

Fico also stated that he cannot prevent other states from strengthening their defense, but warned about the risk of war escalation.

As the publication notes, at the NATO summit on July 7-8, allies may announce new multi-billion investments in defense, increase military support for Ukraine, and confirm that Russia remains a long-term threat to the Alliance’s security.
